It has been a while since I last posted something, many things kept me busy, my apologies for being so quiet. There are though a lot of exciting things happening behind the scenes with film work like scripts, storyboards, shot lists, lighting diagrams etc.
Thought I’ll share a little bit about the Panasonic LX100, as it is usually the tool used for BTS photos or other snapshots. It makes for a really wonderful travel companion as it is quite small and delivers beautiful images. It’s sometimes even used to shoot B-rolls as inserts for film work, as it blends in nicely with higher end cameras, especially when shooting in 4K. Dynamic range and colours are not on par with more purpose build cinema line cameras of course, but at least you get the footage when the big guns are not around. Here are some images from different outings from the LX100, be it for film work or just chillin, although they never really make it into Photoshop.
I have been doing some film work with the Sony FS5 and it’s a great camera, its 15 stop dynamic range and slow motion is awesome. The sensor needs to be overexposed properly though, otherwise it ends up with a lot of noise in the shadows. The camera is not as accurate as the Canon C100 MKII when it comes to colour science, especially skin tones. I sometimes have to use them together for interviews and matching colours in post is not an easy task.
Here’s some behind the scenes stuff from a trip using the FS5 for film work, all BTS shot with the little LX100.
Some screenshots of what is coming out of the FS5, it still needs to go through final post processing but here they are anyhow. 🙂
The Canon C100 MKII is a pleasure to shoot with as well, as it feels real comfortable in the hand and delivers great images. Some more BTS photos (from the LX100 :-).
