The D750 is an excellent camera for photography, it delivers some really stunning image quality and is a pleasure to work with. We have lately decided to start using it for filming as a B-camera or for certain B-rolls or as a lightweight travel companion. I am playing a bit with colour grading on some footage to see how it holds up and if we can get a kind of cinematic look. The colours and dynamic range are quite good, but certain lighting situations challenge the D750 quite a bit. I have found that the blacks struggle to hold up in the shadows in contrasty scenes.
The D750 can capture a lot of detail, depending on the type of scene and how it is captured. Using a shallow DOF to capture detail for example is not much of a problem with the 24 Mbps bitrate. Filming a lansdcape scene though, using a large DOF to capture all the detail, is not ideal with the 24Mbps bitrate. Nonetheless it seems as if the D750 can deliver good video as long as we know its limitations.
Anyhow here is a very short video with different scenes captured with the D750. Post processing was done in FCPX and film convert was also part of the process.
